Canyon to Canyon - 9 days

This physical tough tour (!) will bring you to the two deepest canyons in the world, the Cotahuasi Canyon and the Colca Canyon. And to the "Valley of the Volcanoes". The emphasis is, besides riding a bike, wonderful trekking through the canyons.
The hotels are basic, but this tour is of an enchanting beauty!

Full tour-description:

Day 1 --- Cabanaconde
We start with a tough and adventurous drive to the north of the province of Arequipa. We take narrow mountain-dirt-roads, high mountain-passes and fantastic views. After 10 hours of driving we will arrive in Cabanaconde. Our hotel is in Cabanaconde.

Day 2 and 3 --- Trekking Colca Canyon
We leave the bikes in Cabanaconde and start a two-day trekking into the Colca Canyon. Nice and easy we go to meet the locals and the condors.

This is Peru!!!!!! Guaranteed no tourists (except ourselfs, off course).

We descend deep into the canyon to the village of Tapay. We will stay the night in this little town in a basic hostal. The next day we walk further down to an oasis, with lots of natural swimming-pools.

Day 4 --- Chivay
An early 'rise and shine', because we have to be early on the famous "Cruz del Condor". Here you will see the Andean Condor fly. After the condors we ride to Chivay, a little town in the Colca Canyon. In the evening is it posible to visit one of the hot-pools near Chivay.

Day 5 --- Andagua
The road to Andagua is very bad, but fantastic for our dirt-bikes! We have to stop very often, because of the many good views and photoshoots. Through Caylloma on the northside of the Colca Canyon we will arrive in the mountain-village of Andagua.

Day 6 and 7 --- Cotahuasi
Again a early 'rise and shine', because it's a long drive tot the "Valley of the Volcanoes". Here we will walk between 120 real volcanoes and climb one of a few hundred meters high. Your reward will be an breathtaking view.
We follow our way to the deepest canyon in the world, the Cotohuasi Canyon. The village of Cotahuasi will be our home for two days. And we make daytrips on foot to Sipia Falls and maybe a quiet drive on our bikes through the canyon to see some mountain-villages, locals and (again) lots of hot springs.

Day 8 --- Aplao
We're on the road again! The first few hours are really spectacular. Very quickly you will drive your bike over 5.000 meter mountain-passes!!! You will see the second highest volcano on earth, the Coropuna (6.450 meter), and after a wild and steep descend we arrive in Aplao, where we will spend the night.

Day 9 --- Toro Muerto - Arequipa
After a very nice walk to the biggest petrogliefs in South-America, we will drive our last 200 kilometers over the PanAmerican Highway back to Arequipa. In the evening we'll enjoy a cold beer and a alpaca-steak in one of the many restaurants and bars in the centre of Arequipa.
